HISTORY

My great grandfather, Admiral Sir Frederick Inglefield invented a simple yet extremely clever shackle. The shackle was designed to enable signalmen on British warships attach multiple signal flags to a halyard (sailing rope used to raise or lower flags) in record time. It may seem crazy today, but in 1895    signal flags hoisted to the top of sailing vessels was the everyday method to communicate efficiently at sea. The shackle known as the "Inglefield clip" is still used today by the Royal Navy as well as sailors around the world. The shackle is so easy to use, simply slide two clips together at a ninety degree angle, and instantly you have a completely secure fastening!
I buy and sell Georg Jensen jewelry and as such I am passionate about both jewelry and design. I am also an avid sailing enthusiast. In fact, it could be said that salt water is in my blood, being that the last six generations of my family have served in the Royal Navy.
I have taken my great grandfathers invention and combined it with marine rope for a colorful and nautical line of bracelets and necklaces. These attractive, eye catching pieces of wearable jewelry are perfect for casual summer fun.
